‘Joseon Magician’ reveals first poster featuring Yoo Seung Ho


Actor Yoo Seung Ho’s comeback work ‘Joseon Magician’ is set to greet viewers sometime this December, and the film company has today dropped the first promotional poster.

Yoo Seung Ho appeared as the image of his magician role in the poster, and is seen sporting long hair, while having a blue eyeball which emitted a mysterious aura.

‘Joseon Magician’ tells the story of a top Joseon magician who falls in love with a princess, gets embroiled in a sinister plot, and seeks to go against his destiny. It will be directed by Kim Dae Seung of ‘The Concubine,’ ‘Blood Rain,’ and ‘Bungee Jumping of Their Own,’ and is marks the return of Yoo Seung Ho to the big screen following his discharge from the military.

Yoo Seung Ho will take on the role of Joseon’s top magician, Hwan Hee. Yoo Seung Ho had devoted much time in learning magic and action scenes, prior to the start of filming, as he hopes to show a perfect image.

Go Ara will play Princess Cheong Myung who falls in love with Hwan Hee after meeting him, and decides to follow him. To show off her royal family image, Go Ara has has been hard at work at learning horse riding and action scenes. Kwak Do Won will play a Qing Dynasty magician, who is determined to get his revenge on Hwan Hee for something that happened in the past.

Jo Yoon Hee plays a beautiful gisaeng who is gifted at talking, and is exceptional with acupuncture. The film also features a talented cast which include Lee Kyoung Young, Park Chul Min, Song Byung Ho, Jo Dal Hwan, and many more.

Poster of Yoo Seung-ho’s movie ‘Joseon Magician’ revealed


The very first official poster of the movie “Joseon Magician” was revealed at the Busan International Film Festival, prior to its release in December.

The movie, starring actors Yoo Seung-ho and Go Ara, is about a magician. Yoo playes the Joseon dynasty magician, who is thriving for the last performance ever in his life.

Director Kim Dae-seung, famous for his technique of vividly portraying landscape with a stroke of impact called the shots as director.

This is Yoo’s first movie after his national service. For the movie, he is said to have studied magic and trained hard for action scenes.

In the poster, Yoo stares straight ahead, letting his hair fly in the air. His left eye is colored blue, giving him a mystic image.

On the right corner of the poster, the letters are written as, “Magnificent magic, a stage full of joy.”

The exact date of release and the movie’s title has not yet been finalized.

A new period movie, 'The Joseon Magician', which is actor Yoo Seung-ho's comeback film after his dismissal from the national military service, has been unveiled.

The pamphlets introducing 'The Joseon Magician' have been revealed during the Asian Film Market, which is being held from October 3rd to October 6th in Busan Exhibition and Convention Center, Woo-dong, Haewoondae-gu, Busan.

The 10th Asian Film Market has been held successfully every year since 2006 during Busan International Film Industry. It is a venue for each and all the steps involved in the film industry including investment, production, sales, distribution and post-production.

Only the professionals working for the local and international film industry are allowed to participate in the event. The entire event is comprised of Asian Project Market, Asian Casting Market, Entertainment intellectual property market (E-IP market), Busan international Film Commission, and Film Industry Exhibition, which drew attention from the international buyers in film industry.


The most popular film during the four day market was 'The Joseon Magician' invested and distributed by Lotte Entertainment.

Since the movie began filming on Februry 27th this year, the 72 filming sessions took place for the last 4 months throughout the locations such as Yongin, Namyangjoo, Moongyeong, Sokcho, Hwasoon in Jeonnam and more. While 'The Joseon Magician' has been under the post-production stage since July 2nd, their pamphlets featuring Yoo Seung-ho has received explosive reaction.

On the first page of 'The Joseon Magician' pamphlet, Yoo Seung-ho, who plays Hwan-hee, the top magician in Joseon, shows off his charismatic presence with the long hair flowing in the air. The blue pupil of his right eye bring up more curiosity on the movie.

The second page introduces the characters including Hwan-hee played by Yoo Seung-ho, Cheong-myeong played by Ko Ah-ra, Ahn Dong-hwi played by Lee Kyeong-yeong, Bo-eum played by Jo Yoon-hee. You can also get a glimpse on the romance between Yoo Seung-ho and Ko Ah-ra on the third page of the pamphlet.

An associate with Lotte Entertainment booth in the market told TV Report, "Although we cannot play the film for preview since it is still in the post-production stage, we are receiving heated reaction only with the posters. We ran out of the pamphlets temporarily because many buyers took the pamphlets".

'The Joseon Magician' depicts the story of Joseon's top magician, who could not avoid going against his destiny after he became entangled in an enormous conspiracy. Director Kim Dae-seung's new movie, 'The Joseon Magician' is slated to be released in December this year.

Well this is certainly surprising drama casting news, not that I’m going to look a gift cat in the mouth. My baby boy Yoo Seung Ho has finally taken the jump with a drama project after nearly a year since his military service discharge. I can’t believe it’s been that long already, not that he’s wasted any time what with filming sageuk movie The Joseon Magician and doing plenty of CF and entertainment related activities. Yoo Seung Ho will be headlining cable network MBC Every 1‘s upcoming drama Imaginary Cat (or Imagination Cat)

MBC Every 1 was formerly known as MBC Movies and is a subsidiary under the umbrella of MBC Plus, specializing in variety programming. I’ve never heard of it until now but clearly branching into dramas is a good way to make it’s name heard outside of Korea. Imaginary Cat will be the heartwarming humanistic slice-of-life type drama whereby Yoo Seung Ho interacts with a cat. Seriously, that is the synopsis given, that Seung Ho baby boy will share touching stories via his interactions with a cat. His agency confirmed the casting and explained that Yoo Seung Ho has been inundated with drama offers since his discharged and he finally decided to do this one. Hoo boy, it better be something special is all imma saying.




Currently there is no additional information on the drama, such as the scriptwriter or potential leading lady, but I’m wondering if any of that is important when the core audience is basically checking out to see Yoo Seung Ho charm a cat and vice-versa. I mean, who needs a story or leading lady when it’s a drama full of scenes just like the stills above. Imaginary Cat will premiere sometime in November on MBC Every 1, which won’t be a problem for international viewers to get a hold of this drama airing on a niche cable network.

I am also hoping that he will be partnered with Shinhye in a project. I love their chemistry in the MV and looking forward to their portrayals in serious roles, I won't mind some actions too for Shinhye with him.

It’s finally (almost) here! Yoo Seung-ho’s army comeback project Joseon Magician is gearing up for a winter release and has released its first posters. It’s just a glimpse, but I’d say it was worth the wait to see Yoo Seung-ho back in all his ethereal fusion sageuk glory. I thought it’d be hard to top Arang and the Magistrate and Warrior Baek Dong-soo, but it turns out that there’s no limit to his pretty.

In the new film from director Kim Dae-seung (The Concubine), he’ll play Joseon’s greatest magician who falls into a dangerous and forbidden love with a princess, played by Go Ara. Lee Kyung-young and Jo Yoon-hee costar.

Joseon Magician premieres in December.

Yes, it's gonna be great if we could see YSH and PSH collaborate in action drama coz both of them are good in horse riding and martial arts.Yup, action-romance drama is good choice for them. Actually I would like to see PSH in more sageuk roles too in the future. YSH has done so many sageuk dramas or movies before. He is so good in sageuk. Both of them are so good together.

Yoo Seung Ho will finally make his return to the dramaland through MBC Evey1's upcoming drama 'Imaginary Cat'.




Based on a webtoon series of a same name, Yoo Seung Ho will play as Hyun Jong Hyun, a webtoon writer who works part-time at a bookstore. Becoming a webtoon writer has always been his dream but he has some difficulties due to his stubborn and self-centered personality. On on rainy day, he meets a stray cat and decides to bring it to live with him. He names it Boggil and from then on, he starts opening his mind to the cat.

This will be his first drama project since his military discharge, so it's attracting much attention from many people. Plus, a healing drama about a human and a cat, who wouldn't love that, right?

'Imaginary Cat' is scheduled to broadcast at the end of November.
