Spoilers for Pinocchio, obvs.
Now I finally understand why the people who read the script say that Dalpo and Jaemyung are the black and white sides of Min Joon Gook. In many ways, IHYV and Pinocchio should not be compared, but should be appreciated as companion pieces.
Let’s look at the similarities: Min Joon Gook believed that lost everything he had due to the misreporting of some reporters, and he decided to kill the reporter (Sooha’s dad) for it.
Dalpo has had the fortune to meet Gong-pil, which is like Hyesung’s mom, he/she took him in didn’t ask about his past, just treated him with love and care. In addition, he also had Inha’s affection and honesty, and to an extent, Dalpyung’s respect (for helping to raise Inha). For all that fate took away from him, they returned to him a family. A family who buys him medicine when he gets sick. Fate even gave him a new look and a new job.
In comparison, Jaemyung has had nothing. He doesn’t even know that Dalpo is alive. He traveled the entire country looking for his father, he spent a decade in hiding, without an identity or any way to make a proper living. In his mind, the only thing that kept him going was that his father could be alive out there somewhere. When that reason is erased, he has nothing. And who should fate put across his path but the man who caused put his family into ruin in the first place.
This is why I love Park Hae-ryun. Her dramas have small bugs here and there, but the gist of it, the progression of actions and counteractions are delicately put into place to illustrate broad themes.
The way it was built up, their path were almost inevitable.
Like the white knight and the black knight, they go about their goals in two different ways. Dalpo tries to use the media to find his brother and to bring justice to his father. Jaemyung uses resources he has to frame the man in the exact same way his father was framed. In fact, the body that Dalpo has examined most likely died at the hands of Jaemyung.
I don’t know if it is justice, but it is poetic indeed.

P.S. The only point at which they could have salvaged the whole situation is when Jaemyung thought about calling Dalpo. If only he had, if only they had met… But they didn’t, so Jaemyung went on with his plan, and Dalpo got an opportunity to clear up his motives with Gyo-dong. The way those last 10 minutes was directed is just… daebak.
