tvN’s upc.oming weekend drama “Memories of the Alhambra” has released two new character posters of the leading roles!
“Memories of the Alhambra” will be a suspense romance drama that tells the story of Yoo Jin Woo (Hyun Bin), the head of an investment company who flies to Granada, Spain for business and ends up staying at an old hostel run by Jung Hee Joo (Park Shin Hye).
The new character posters provide a deeper insight into the two leading roles. First, Hyun Bin has a sincere look in his eye as he appears to be lost in deep thought in his poster. At first glance, it may be difficult to guess that he is the head of an investment firm who is also a doctor of engineering and a genius when it comes to game development. This may be a hint for the strange happenings that he will encounter while in Granada. The tagline, “Half of what I see is what I expected, but the other half is completely wrong,” evokes curiosity for what he will face.
Park Shin Hye has taken on the role of artistic and idealistic Jung Hee Joo. Her eyes contain a myriad of emotions from longing, worry, and confusion, and her poster tagline reads, “He suddenly appeared in my life, changed everything around, and then disappeared.” She once dreamed of becoming a guitarist, but had to give it up and run a hostel in order to provide for her family. It will be interesting to see just how Yoo Jin Woo changes Jung Hee Joo’s life during his visit.
“Memories of the Alhambra” is set to premiere on December 1 at 9 p.m. KST.

“Memories Of The Alhambra” Producers Share How AR Games Will Be Used In Drama
tvN’s upcoming drama “Memories of the Alhambra” has shared more information about its use of AR (Augmented Reality) as a subject matter!
The upcoming Saturday-Sunday drama will tell the story of an investment company CEO and the owner of an old hostel in Granada, Spain. Hyun Bin will play the CEO Yoo Jin Woo, who visits the city of Granada for a business trip and gets swept up in a series of mysterious incidents while staying at the hostel run by Jung Hee Joo (played by Park Shin Hye). The show will also be Korea’s first drama that uses an AR game as its setting, introducing new elements to the suspense/romance genre.
AR is a technological tool that adds virtual images to the real world in which we live. In “Memories of the Alhambra,” the moment Yoo Jin Woo enters a game wearing a smart lens, another world unfolds over Granada in the present time of 2018.
Unlike traditional dramas where its characters travel through time and space, “Memories of the Alhambra” will feature a thrilling story of the Middle Ages added to ordinary modern life through the use of cutting-edge technology.
In regards to why this subject matter came to the forefront of the drama, Park Ho Sik CP (Chief Producer) of “Memories of the Alhambra” explained, “The space between reality and imagination is gradually fading, and in this generation where the number of people who enjoy games is increasing, I thought that the combination of the analogous story regarding the digital subject matter and human sensibilities would bring forth great excitement. Due to the introduction of various platforms, the obstacle between distance and language is gradually crumbling. This project began with an effort to produce a drama that viewers can enjoy not only in Korea, but also around the world.”
The challenge of producing tvN’s newest project was possible due to the work of writer Song Jae Jung and PD (producing director) Ahn Gil Ho. Much time is being invested into the CG (computer graphics), editing, music, and other aspects of the drama in order to draw in viewers who are not familiar with games.
Park CP also added, “Granada, one of the drama’s main settings, is a charming city in which Western Catholic culture and Islamic styles coexist. Due to this, it was an appropriate location to portray the drama’s distinctive atmosphere. Viewers will be able to feel excitement at watching the analogous and vintage atmosphere, along with the beautiful scenery.”
He concluded, “We hope that the subject matter of AR games will reveal its effect on human’s emotions and relationships. In addition, we hope viewers will wonder what will result from the clues that appear during the beginning of the show. Please enjoy the drama in various ways.”
“Memories of the Alhambra” premieres on December 1 at 9 p.m. KST.

3 Ways “Memories Of The Alhambra” Has Already Piqued Viewers’ Curiosity
Even before its premiere, tvN’s upcoming drama “Memories of the Alhambra” already has viewers guessing!
“Memories of the Alhambra” is a new “suspense-romance” drama starring Hyun Bin as Yoo Jin Woo, a brilliant investment firm CEO who travels to Spain on business and ends up staying at an old hostel in Granada. Park Shin Hye will star as Jung Hee Joo, the owner of the hostel, while EXO’s Chanyeol will play her younger brother Jung Se Joo, a genius programmer who seems to live in his own world. The drama will follow the characters’ unbelievable journey as they get swept up in a series of mysterious events that occur at the hostel.
Here are three things about the drama that have already piqued viewers’ curiosity:
1. The strange magic surrounding Hyun Bin’s character
Although Yoo Jin Woo is a modern businessman, there is something distinctly magical about his character. In an action-packed teaser video released last week, Yoo Jin Woo has a mysterious encounter with an armored knight who appears to have stepped directly out of the Middle Ages, and he also engages in both a sword fight and a gun fight on a train.
Yoo Jin Woo also declares that he traveled to Granada in order to see “magic,” leaving viewers eager to find out exactly what led him to Spain and what kind of magic lies in store for him there.
2. Park Shin Hye’s red veil
So far, all the photos released of Park Shin Hye’s character Jung Hee Joo have shown her sporting a casual, modern look—which is why viewers are so intrigued by the new glimpse of Park Shin Hye in a romantic white dress and mysterious red veil. Some have even speculated that the woman in the sheer red veil may not actually be Jung Hee Joo, but rather someone who looks exactly like her.
3. Chanyeol’s character going on the run
The latest teaser for the drama gave viewers their first glimpse of Chanyeol’s character Jung Se Joo—along with some new questions about his story. Late at night, Jung Se Joo calls Yoo Jin Woo from a public phone booth and frantically tells him, “Let’s meet in Granada. If you wait at the Bonita Hostel, I’ll meet you there.”
Jung Se Joo is clearly in a rush, and it appears as though he is being chased by someone, making viewers curious to find out why he’s on the run.
The producers of the drama remarked, “‘Memories of the Alhambra’ is a drama that will paint one large picture, using a variety of smaller stories that make up the plot as clues. It will also feature the refreshing subject matter of AR [Augmented Reality] games.”
“With each new episode, the drama will make viewers even more curious about what happens next,” they continued, “so we ask that you show a lot of interest and anticipation.”
“Memories of the Alhambra” will premiere on December 1 at 9 p.m. KST. In the meantime, check out the teasers for the drama here!
