Plot

Actor Yoo Yeon Seok has expressed that he “doesn’t feel any burdens” about taking on antagonist roles.

He was on MBC’s “Section TV” on January 26, which showed Yoo Yeon Seok shooting for a clothing pictorial.

Yoo Yeon Seok, who received a lot of popularity for his role as Chil Bong on tvN drama “Reply 1994,” was asked, “You’ve played the role of villain so many times, didn’t you feel burdened?”

He replied, “I wasn’t worried, because I thought that I’d be able to transform myself if I met a good character. I’m very fortunate to have met a character such as Chil Bong.”

Yoo Yeon Seok was asked how similar he was to Chil Bong, to which he confessed, “We’re not 100% alike. I grew up in Gyeongsang-do, so I think there’s a part of that in me.”

Yoo Yeon Seok debuted as actor Yoo Ji Tae’s younger counterpart in the film Oldboy in 2003, and since then has become known for playing antagonist characters in “Introduction to Architecture” and “Werewolf Boy.” He also appeared on sageuk fantasy drama “Gu Family Book.” However, he has managed to transformed his image playing “Reply 1994” nice guy, baseball player Chil Bong.

Han Seok-Kyu, Ko Soo and Park Shin-hye are going to start working on the movie "The Tailors".

"The Tailors" is a historical about the love, talent, jealousy and passion of the tailors who used to make royal outfits. Other casts are Yoo Yeon-seok, Ma Dong-seok, Shin So-yul, Lee Yoo-bi and Jo Dal-hwan.

Shin So-yul plays the celebrated Gisaeng Wol-hyang, who has a huge crush on the genius tailor Kong Jin (Ko Soo). This is her first historical in 4 eyars since the SBS "Deep-rooted Tree" and she said, "I was so mesmerized by the script my heart wouldn't stop thumping".

Lee Yoo-bi puts on the role of a court lady named So Eui who is full of love, jealousy and passion. Standing by Dol Seok's (Han Seok-Kyu) side and becoming his hands and feet is Jo Dal-hwan from the KBS 2TV drama "Generation of Youth".

My Note: Shinhye as the Queen will be pitted against two women for the attention of the king and the genius tailor.................. LY as the court lady for kings affections and SSY as gisaeng for the genius tailor's. Interesting scenario. Is this the first time that we will be seeing Shinhye in an adult role with other females vying for her characters love interests?

[We will definitely be in treat for seeing some beautiful clothes with three actresses in the movie in the role of the Queen, court lady and gisaeng. With the movie based on rivalry between the court tailor and a genius one, the dresses are bound to be breathtaking specially when seen on the big screen and on lovely ladies.

Lee Yubi (Gu Family Book, Nice Guy) is set to appear on the big screen for the first time in Tailor, a Joseon-era movie about the artisans responsible for outfitting the royal family. She’ll replace newcomer Yeon Ye-ji, who suddenly stepped down from the role of royal concubine and rival to the queen.


The star-studded sageuk film will “combine elements of love, talent, jealousy and desire.” Yoo Yeon-seok (Answer Me 1994’s Chilbongie) plays the king, who will juggle his relationships with the queen, portrayed by Park Shin-hye (Heirs), and his concubine. The king and queen get mixed up in some complicated affairs due to the garments made by the team of royal tailors. I’ve got my reservations about the story, but plots have sounded worse and have been successful. If anyone can pull off the conflict between the central characters–the innately talented young designer daring to reach out of his class to make clothes for the royals and the established tailor who has serviced the royal family for decades–Go Soo and Han Seok-kyu can.

The film will be produced by Bidangil (A Werewolf Boy, The Chaser) and helmed by Lee Won-suk (Men: An Operating Manual). Shooting begins February 21.
