I went to visit my Japanese family in Nagano this weekend and here are some photos I took. The Japanese dolls are for Hinamatsuri, Doll Festival, where family prays for their daugther(s)'s happiness and luck in marriage. For each daughter, there is a seven tier platform set up with its own dolls.

We went to see some monkeys. They are everywhere!!

Wow Mee!!! These pictures are great! I love how you've captured the details on the dolls. Hmm, I think I should ask my parents to set up a 7-tier set for me, too. Haha!

And the girls are sooo cute! (I love kids, you know that!) I am spazzing over them.

The details are extraordinary, even on other dolls too, for example the musicians have instruments,
the lords have bows and arrowns and a katana. It's super detailed. My Japanese dad and I had to look at a photo of which goes where. lol.
