My Best Friend
**When Sukkie’s interview about his best friends in the industry came out, I knew I had to write something in celebration of it, declaring her as the only girl best friend he has. I love them with all my heart and they are really best friends, more than namjachinggu and yeojachinggu.**
She was talking to my Eomma across the room, helping her fix the dinner table, the night before she left for Okinawa.
Yepeuda. Jeongmal Yepeuda! No wonder Eomma is crazy about her… but not as much as I am crazy about this girl.
I never thought I’d be this head over heels about her when I met her 8 years ago on the set of Non-Stop 4. She caught my attention, this newcomer. When at that time, I am fond of Noonas, yet she is 3 years younger than I am. Kyeowo. But when we met again after 4 years and worked together on that memorable CF, I knew I was hooked. And who could forget that kiss… ahhh… And from that day on, I knew, she is the one.
I put an effort and made sure we become close, like brothers and sisters. I keep telling everyone that she is like the sister I never had. But I could never see her as my sister… not then, not now, not ever. She knows that… Yes, we became inseparable since then. Our names are entwined and linked, making it somehow bad for her in a sense. But that made me happy, I suppose. I am grateful.
When Minamisheneyo was offered to me, I knew this is my chance to work with her at last, that I suggested her to play the role of Go Mi Nam. I also thought this is the best time to test that charms my Eomma keeps bragging about. And I was right. Our chemistry did not fail. We clicked. And so, she became my girl.
She is the most wonderful person I’ve ever known in my life. Beautiful inside, out.
She knows me from head to toe. Heck, she can even read my mind.
She has sacrificed a lot for me, bore pain because of me. Yes, I am too ashamed to admit but I had hurt her, not just once but plenty of times.
Mi Chi Nom. Jerk.
Yet, with all those times, she stood by me and stayed. Why did you think I wrote and recorded that song? This is why I love her more.
She may be stubborn at times… no, she is stubborn most of the time. But that is how she is… I love her the way she is.
Her eyes met mine from across the room and she showed me that smile… Ah, that smile. That smile that made me fall for her.
I smiled back and she winked.
She has always been there for me, never left me one single bit. Even when we agreed to keep and hide this relationship from the public eye… A price I had to pay for being the Asia Prince.
“Kwaenchana, Oppa,” is what she always say.
I saw her tears… tears that I brought to her. I saw them even when she hid them from me. The wound she gets from the bashing from my side is not as easy to bear. And I wish I could take them all away in a flash… but I can’t. And that is what sucks the most.
During my highest of times, she too was there, watching with pride on the sidelines. Like I to her. She has won 2 consecutive years at the Baeksangs and I am glad I was with her this year.
She has also swallowed the anger and pain when the green monster takes over me. She once couldn’t take it anymore and shut me off… and that woke me up. I realized from that day on that I couldn’t live without her. I know that so well now. Kende, it was worse when she got jealous. I almost lost her then and I wouldn’t want to experience that again. Hell no… shiro!
So, I had to be sure.. I knew I have to have her.. for the rest of my life. I was too afraid she’d answer differently when I popped that question. Good thing, she accepted, and I am proud to see that ring on her finger.
“Oppa, bob meuk ja!” she called.
“De!“
I stood from my seat and as I went towards her, I realized I am the luckiest guy on earth.
She is more than my girl…
She is more than my woman…

She is more than my fiance…
She is my best friend and I love her.
