Filming wraps for Yoo Seung Ho’s comeback project ‘Joseon Magician’

Upcoming South Korean movie ‘Joseon Magician‘ (director: Kim Dae Seung) which is headlined by Yoo Seung Ho and Go Ara, recently wrapped up filming in Yongin.

Filming began on February 27th, and saw the team film 72 times for the past four months around Yongin, Namyangju, Mungyeong, Sokcho, and Hwasun. The production team spent month constructing props and backdrops to be used for the movie, and the scale of which is rarely seen in the history of South Korean cinema.

The movie tells the story of a top Joseon magician who falls in love with a princess, gets embroiled in a sinister plot, and seeks to go against his destiny.

‘Joseon Magician’ will be Yoo Seung Ho’s first comeback project after his discharge, and he will play top Joseon magician, Hwan Hee. Following months of magic and action training, Yoo Seung Ho is set to show off his array of high quality magic tricks. His co-star and actress Go Ara will play Princess Cheong Myung, and like Yoo Seung Ho, has been hard at work at learning horse riding and action scenes.

Kwak Do Won will play a Qing Dynasty magician, and is determined to get his revenge on Hwan Hee for something that happened in the past. Jo Yoon Hee plays a beautiful but blind gisaeng who is gifted when it comes to talking, and is exceptional with acupuncture. Other talented cast members include Lee Kyoung Young, Park Chul Min, Song Byung Ho, Jo Dal Hwan, and many more.

Director Kim Dae Seung previously directed ‘The Concubine,’ ‘Blood Rain,’ and ‘Bungee Jumping of Their Own,’ and is known for his meticulous yet vibrant style.

The production company for the movie last produced ‘The Attorney’ which was headlined by Song Kang Ho, and was watched over 11 million times while garnering several awards along the way.

‘Joseon Magician’ will open in cinemas in the latter half of 2015

Q1. You played the piano in the drama and during your fan meeting. How much did you practice ?

A.When I was young, I liked the piano so I learnt (how to play) once, but I ended up hating it so I stopped halfway. However, one day, I suddenly wanted to play the piano again. At this time, especially since I didn't have any hobby and I had heard people wondering why I didn't have something I liked doing, I started learning again.Like, I thought it would be cool if I knew how to play an instrument (laugh)



Q2. Tell us about some fun episodes when you thought 'I'm happy' or 'This is funny !' during the filming.

A.Yoochun hyung is really fun !

We didn’t have a lot of scenes together but we got close to each other and if we began to find something funny, we both wouldn't stop laughing (laugh)

Plus, sometimes, when Yoochun hyung cracked a joke or did something like that, Eun Hye noona too would laugh hard so all three of us would laugh together, and so it also happened that we halted the filming (laugh)



Q3. Harry had built a secret room in his house, but if Seung Ho also were to build one, what kind of secret room would it be ?

A. I would like a room where I can display all the scripts from all the shootings I did until today. If I gathered all the scenarios and scripts from the all the shootings I did until now, then it would be a really big amount, you see. It's a bit regretful that I didn't keep them from the beginning…

But I'll keep being an actor in the future so if I build that secret room and put the scripts only in it, I think it will be great.

Q4. In December, you held your first fanmeeting in Japan, what it your impression of the Japanese fans you met?

A. It was different from Korean fan meetings and it was really fun. More fans than expected came to my fan meeting. I can't dance or sing on stage so I thought about what to do to spend a great time and we did some games and played scenes. It was really fun and time really flied too fast.


Q5. In the future, what kind of actor do you want to become ?

A There are people who say to me that through this drama, I turned from a child actor into an adult actor.Plus, there are also people who say to me "You're great!" "You're handsome!" "You're amazing!" so I'm extremely happy.There are still a lot of things that I'm lacking, but one day I want to become an actor who shows a new appearance and surprise everyone.

Yoo Seung Ho came back!

Thankfully time went by.
Yoo Seung Ho came back to our world.
His tears we saw at his discharge made up for our long time waiting for him about 2 years.
Anyway, our Yoo Seung Ho was in front of us.



I think 'faithful' is the best way to show one's thought directly.
If I can show you a word or an action including a hand gesture with my thought, it would be wonderful.
For me, it's not a big deal if you can understand my thought.
It is enough for me if I can give you my heart first.

Paris.
I don't think you can feel romantic mood with sunshine in Paris only in spring or fall. December in Paris is also good season having a big event of 'Christmas'.
He lived in the deep mountain of Fachon in Gangwon for 18 months, so we wanted him to depart from his past just a little. That's why we offered him to visit Champs-Elysees for a week holding a Chrismas market from the Arc de Triomphe.
I know that he worked hard without tears, or he might have not been fully enjoyed himself if he got a holiday in the military since he was like a honest person. I thought that it would be better for him to release from in reality and took him to Paris for 11 hours flight.

"I've been in Paris for 3 days before going for photo shooting to London. I didn't know how to enjoy Paris as I was too young at that time. I think your trip can be changed depending on your purpose, but I don't want to make a point or purpose of this trip in Paris.
Especially I will be there with good staff this time, which means to be perfect of my trip before starting".

"I want to go backpacking with my friends in the future. This idea is growing in my mind after I came here in Paris. I don't need anything like luxurious or comfortable for my trip, but a backpack is only I need.
Actually before entered into the military service, I went to Jeju island with my close friends.



We rented scooters and went around there, which gave me a lot of opportunities to think.
It was raining and cold there, but we had not decided where to stay. That was a tough trip, but for me, it was fun time with close friends."
We knew this trip would be perfect from the departure...
Actually Yoo Seung Ho didn't make lists like what to buy or where to go for travelling.
Although he made a decision to go there, the weather in Paris was so bad.
But he didn't blame the weather.
When he was walking in the rain, he just pulled with a hood of his jumper, and his hands put in his pockets of it. He was just kept walking calmly.
When the rain got heavier, he went into the cafe he found first there, having an Americano.
Regardless of the middle of winter, it was not freezing there. The first class there is always at the terrace where you can stay with people passing on the streets.
"My unit in the military was placed in freezing, so I rather feel refreshed of this weather.(laugh)
When I had to work early in the morning it was so freezing out there that I would got a headache. So I feel friendly to this weather instead"



We know a life in the military makes you get adapt to any environment for the victory, then you would be impossible to hate your memories there in the end.
He showed us his stories as a trainer in the military, we saw him as if he had his first love or broken up with someone, it was like a sense of frustration on his face.

"I'm happy to finish my duty in the military, it's so good. As it has not been in a month since I left from the military service.
I don't know why, but I'm still remembering of my successors of the military.
I wanted to say thank you with cool at my discharge, but I got crying in front of the cameras, right?
Before I came out there, my successors gathered at the same place as the cameras, formed a line on each side and gave me a song with applause.
After that, suddenly tears in my eyes and I was standing there. Maybe they moved me like that.
Because I had been shared the same hardships with them, and I know they will be having a hard time more after I left.
But it's not good for crying like that."(laugh)
