CN Blue attends press conference prior to fan meet in Singapore

The members of CN Blue are currently in Singapore, kicking off their Asia Tour. Aside from their mini showcase and fan meeting, they’re also in town for an autograph session.

Allkpop was at the press conference held on August 20, prior to their fan-meet. CN Blue talked about albums, fans, fame and more! Check out the following excerpts from the conference :

What do you think of the Singaporean fans?
Yong Hwa : Singapore is the first country to kick start our Asian tour, the fans are friendly and supportive of us.

You are represented by the acronym, B.L.U.E. Burning, Lovely, Untouchable and Lovely.. tell us about it.
Yong Hwa : Burning means passion, which describes Jong Hyun. Lovely represents Min Hyuk. Untouchable represents Jong Shin. Emotional describes myself (Yong Hwa). I get serious and emotional when composing.

What are your biggest acheivements?
Yong Hwa : There isn’t any specfic acheivements as we are currently still achieving, even now.

Will you do live performances on the streets of Japan like before?
Yong Hwa : We want to improve better so we can hold concerts and live shows.

Who are the artiste you look up to?
Min Hyuk : Maroon 5.
Jong Hyun : John Mayer.
Yong Hwa : Jason Mraz.
Jung Shin : Jay-Z.


If a female were to join CN Blue as the fifth member, what will be the conditions and how will you make her feel welcomed?
Yong Hwa : We have yet to think about it but I hope she will mix well with us.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of fame?
Min Hyuk : We feel the love when we are welcomed by fans.
Jong Hyun : So far, there’s no disadvantages, we want to share our music to more people.
Yong Hwa : The advantage is we get to share our music with more people. When we are at restaurants, we have to eat in a beautiful manner.
Jung Shin : We are thankful to our fans for their love and support, there are no disadvantages.

How do you feel about fans of different ages and sexes?
Yong Hwa : We are thankful and honored to have fans of different ages. We appreciate them.

Which member have changed the most after debut?
Yong Hwa : All of us have changed in appearance but Jung Shin changed the most, he became more beautiful. There are no changes in our character.

How do you cope with stress and de-stress?
Jung Shin : We talked about the problem together and try to solve it.
Yong Hwa : Listening to music helps too.

How do you dress when you’re on the streets?
Min Hyuk : We dress normally with a sunglass or a cap.

Craziest fan encounter?
Yong Hwa : We would describe them as passionate fans. There was a Japanese fan who attended all our shows and gave us all her tickets as a gift. We were touched by her gesture.

If each member has a girlfriend, which song from your albums will you dedicate?
Min Hyuk : Sweet Holiday.
Jong Hyun : Love Light as it represents first love.
Yong Hwa : Everything except I’m A Loner. Sweet Holiday, Love Light and Love Revolution.
Jung Shin : Love Revolution as it represents first love.

Right after the showcase, I hopped onto the van arranged by some fans and chased after the CNBLUE VIP van on the expressway. We were trying to be on par with the van so that we can wave at them on the road while driving.
We reached the Conrad Hotel and ran to the lobby entrance where there are 2 barriers which we have to stand behind. We prepared our cameras and started screaming when CNBLUE came out of the van into the hotel.

We ate dinner at Milenna while waiting for CNBLUE to bathe, change and leave their hotel with their luggages. They left the hotel at 7pm to eat seafood dinner at Longhouse, East Coast.
After dinner, they headed straight to Singapore Changi Aiport to return to Korea.

Security was out of control when CNBLUE members were trying to enter the airport. Fans left a small gap for them to pass through from the entrance(where the van is) till the end(vip check-in counter), hence these fans took the opportunity to touch the cnblue members.

From the video, it may look like yonghwa has been "raped" by tons of fans. He had only 1 body guard protecting him hence fans touched him on the left side which was unprotected. He was being dragged as his top was being pulled.

Yonghwa definitely gave the best fan service for the past 3 days. In this video, he still smiled, waved and glance at the people around him despite the fans mobbing him. I love his surprised face. haha.

CNBlue spreads princely charm
Apart from playing and creating their own music, the charismatic and humble quartet from Korean boyband CNBlue do possess certain qualities that are strikingly different from their fellow Korean counterparts.

With an average height of 1.83m, the strapping-tall lads (Jung Yong Hwa, Lee Jong Hyun, Kang Min Hyuk, and Lee Jung Shin) made quite an impression when they arrived at the Conrad Hotel for their first official press conference in Singapore, looking dapper as ever in their crisp and white matching suits (read: Prince Charming!) and ankle boots.

Sharing on the pros and cons of their meteoric rise in the music industry, band leader Yong Hwa, 22, tickled his bandmates' funnybone with his frank reply of having to "eat in a beautiful manner" when they have meals at restaurants.

"The advantage [of being famous] is that people really love our music, but the disadvantage is that when we go to restaurants to eat, we really have to eat in a beautiful manner because everyone is watching us," he chuckled.

Being under the watchful eyes of the public might explain why the boys are on their best behavior. Apart from being generous with their Ps and Qs throughout the press conference and interview, they also appeared seemingly reserved and soft-spoken.

One would expect them to break into gregarious bouts of laughter and guffaw over practical jokes and comments made by one another, but instead, polite smiles and slight chuckles were all that was exchanged between the members.

Considering how it has been barely eight months since their Korean debut, their short brush with fame is perhaps the next best explanation behind their subdued and grounded selves.

CNBlue first kick started their music career in Japan during August last year with a Japanese single, Now or Never, and shot to stardom shortly after releasing their debut Korean single, Bluetory, in January this year.

Despite the emergence of new competitors and boybands in the Korean music scene lately, these four lads managed to rise up against the odds with their unique brand of indie music. They feel that incorporating "rap verses and other music genres" helps give their music a different spin.

Currently in Singapore to kick off the first leg of their Asian tour, the boys laughed in embarrassment when asked of their plans to stay ahead and on top of the music charts.

Nicknamed the "emotional" soul of the group when it comes to music composition, Yong Hwa explained, "We do not think that we are at the top right now. He modestly believes that they are merely "on the steps" of reaching the top of their game.

With a growing fanbase in Asia and other parts of the world, the boys marked their first official visit to Singapore with a warm reception from more than 300 fans at Changi Airport last night.

Min Hyuk, 20, drummer and second youngest member of the group admitted that they were "astonished by their fans' screams" when they exited the gates and felt touched by their love and friendly gestures.

With an international fan base in Korea and other parts of Asia, what are some of the craziest fan encounters the boys have experienced thus far?

"Craziest fan does not sound right," Yong Hwa replied as he continued sharing, "There was a Japanese fan who have been attending all kinds of performances and events that we have attended [since our debut in Japan]. She collected the tickets [from these events] and gave it to us as a gift.

"We feel really touched," he added.
