Upcoming Korean drama Pinocchio has attracted a fair bit of buzz prior to its launch. Two of the country’s brightest young stars, Lee Jong Suk and Park Shin Hye, will team up for the first time to headline the drama.

Touted as a romantic melodrama, it will chronicle Choi In Ha (Park Shin Hye) and Choi Dal Po’s (Lee Jong Suk) journey as reporters.

In Ha suffers from “Pinocchio syndrome” – she gets afflicted with violent hiccups whenever she tells anything but the truth. Dal Po starts off as a country bumpkin but transforms into an eloquent rookie reporter with a photographic memory.

Park Shin Hye first starred in drama Stairway to Heaven in 2003 and has headlined countless projects, including wildly popular The Heirs in 2013. This, however, will be the first role in which her character has a stable job.

The cast gathered for a press conference ahead of the drama’s release, where Lee Jong Suk revealed that the messy mop of hair he donned for some of his scenes caused his hair to fall out, chuckling that he felt immense relief once he was able to take it off as it felt “nice and cool”.

Pinocchio will air its first episode on November 12 on SBS.

Park Shin Hye Spills on Playing Character With a Job for the First Time






Park Shin Hye spilled her thoughts on acting as a reporter.

During the press conference for SBS’ Pinocchio on November 6, held in the SBS building in Mokdong, Park Shin Hye shared her thoughts on acting as a reporter who cannot tell a lie.

Park Shin Hye said, “It’s meaningful since this is the first time that I played a character that has a job. As an actress, I always had many thoughts about spoken words. During interviews, I would worry about how I can convey my thoughts and information well, and this is the project that deals with and solves the issue so I really wanted to do it.”

She continued, “I wanted to do it also because the writer wrote it so well. I met director Jo Soo Won when I was in high school and I’m excited and nervous to be working with him in a project. I’ve been enjoying filming because he has been guiding me on the set.”

Pinocchio is a story about a man who lives with a fake name and a woman who cannot lie. Lee Jong Suk plays a local news reporter who hides a special talent. 



The drama begins November 12.

As Lee Jong Suk and Park Shin Hye are of the same age both in the drama and real life, the onscreen couple naturally got close in a short span of time and their chemistry showed through the photos.

A producer stated, "As much as Lee Jong Suk and Park Shin Hye are called the endorphins of the set, they are responsible for the warm atmosphere... Lee Jong Suk on His Hair in “Pinocchio”: “It Was Uglier Than I Had Imagined”



Recently, a press conference was held for the upcoming SBS Wednesday-Thursday drama “Pinocchio,” where actors Lee Jong Suk, Park Shin Hye, Kim Young Kwang, and Lee Yoo Bi were in attendance.

At the event, Lee Jong Suk shared his thoughts on his much-talked-about hair. He said, “In the drama, my hair changes once I become an adult. After wearing the unkempt wig for a long time during shoots, my front hair would start to fall out. It was stressful. And it was uglier than I had imagined. It was a kind of ugly that would not have come out if a handsome actor had taken the role.”

The actor also spoke about his way of speech, saying that he often hears from others that he sounds insincere, but through this drama, he was able to refine his speech. “I think viewers will be able to see a new side of me,” the actor said.

“Pinocchio” is a drama that takes place against the background of a newsroom, following the story of a man who is living under a fake name (Lee Jong Suk) and a woman with Pinocchio Syndrome (Park Shin Hye) who is unable to lie. The drama will be a reunion for Lee Jong Suk and director Jo Soo Won, who directed “I Hear Your Voice.” The first episode airs on November 12 at 10 p.m. (KST).

Lee Jong Suk goes from a countryside student to a chic reporter in stills from 'Pinocchio'

The still cuts above show Lee Jong Suk taking on the roles of a countryside student, taxi driver, and local news reporter. Lee Jong Suk's character (Choi Dahl Po) moves from the countryside to Seoul and starts working as a taxi driver before becoming a reporter. He is also said to have a special talent, which fans will have to find out by tuning into the series.

The drama's producers stated, "Lee Jong Suk practices over and over to change his acting as his hairstyle and outfits change according to the image transformation, surprising the staff... Please look forward to Lee Jong Suk's new and various charms through his three transformations."

'Pinocchio' will premiere following 'My Lovely Girl' on the 12th at 10 PM KST!
