Found it Mee! I think you might get disappointed. The study’s not on couples but on people in general. Here’s my post to be, if you approve…

When the anjells.com video came out mee and I were talking about how KS-SH were aping each other and I mentioned seeing a show where a study was done about people subconsciously mimicking actions. That’s the reason why this post on the anjells video comes so late, after skimming on so many dvds I just found which show. It’s from the BBC documentary “the Human Mind- Human Senses.

Professor Robert Winston narrates,

“There are ways of watching how someone moves that can tell us what’s happening in their mind. In fact scientists have now discovered that this can even reveal if they actually like us or not. To show this we took two men, Mr. Nice and Mr. Nasty and placed them in a controlled environment. Then we asked several volunteers to meet them and discuss different subjects. What the volunteers didn’t know was that while Mr. Nice was busy all friendly and warm, Mr. Nasty was being as negative and as difficult as possible. But crucially, both Mr. Nice and Mr. Nasty have been asked to deliberately move their bodies in specific ways while our cameras watched for a response from our volunteers that would reveal what was going on in their mind. Gradually, as the conversation developed, an extraordinary thing began to happen. The volunteers with Mr. Nice gradually began to copy him. Meanwhile those with Mr. Nasty didn’t copy him at all. Because the volunteers like Mr. Nice, their mind prompted them to mimic him, a subconscious attempt to strengthen the bond between them.”

Now they might have a script for what they were supposed to say but from the randomness of their actions I would say that those were their own. And for me, fan that I am, they spoke volumes. I may be prone to seeing things that may or may not be there but you tell me if they make any sense.

Observation number one, the most obvious, they were very snug, arms pressed to the other. SH is naturally affectionate, be it with HK or JH but she’s really comfortable with KS and scoots right behind him. KS, could have moved and put a distance between them but he didn’t. He let SH lean on him which shows he’s relaxed and at ease with their closeness too. it was a comfortable closeness. the kind you do only with people you not only know, but like a lot.

Observation number two, their smiles were real, not fake. (*Don’t read on, if you want to know if you’re good at telling a fake smile from a real one. Here’s the link on the psychology test devised by Prof. Paul Ekman of the University of California, still from BBC) on how to spot a fake smile, if you’re interested. www.bbc.co.uk/science/humanbody/mind/surveys/smiles/ ) It reached their eyes, see the crinkles on the sides of their eyes. It’s not the steady kind of smile that’s like frozen or plastered flat rather it varies in intensity. They really enjoy each others company. The whole shoot must’ve been a breeze.

Number three would be their alternating forward shoulder position. Now this one is based purely on my opinion. For me it shows whose the leader or the dominant partner in a relationship or in a group and what I find heartening in the video is that it shows they're equals but it also shows that it's no problem for SH to let KS lead and for KS to let SH have her say too.

Number four would be their mimicking each others’ actions though it’s mostly SH aping KS but there were 2 of KS’. What I find interesting though is that KS seems to realize midway through that he was following SH that he’d make a conscious effort to alter the tail end of his action like making just one clap or only one hand up at first but then he put up his other hand as well. Basing on these, I’d say, SH likes and respects KS a lot. I’ll go on a limb and say SH seeks his approval too which is why she mimics more. KS is trying to be the oppa but can’t help aping his dongsaeng because he likes her too and he’s bouyed by her enthusiasm.

Lastly, now this part is definitely pure daydreaming, I imagine KS and SH holding hands during those times when we don’t see their hands on screen. How’s that for spazzing maize? Whatever people may think…

I’d say SH is the helium to KS’ balloon.
