After his current contract with Wellmade ends on December 31st, Hallyu star Lee Jong Suk will be searching for new management while filming his new drama.


Lee Jong Suk has high popularity in China after his performances in ‘I Hear Your Voice’ and ‘Pinocchio’. His next step after leaving his current company has become a hot topic within the industry.

As a last project with Wellmade Entertainment, Lee Jong Suk decided to participate in the Chinese-Korean collaboration drama ‘Jade Lovers’, showing his loyalty to the company he has worked with for so long. ‘Jade Lovers’ is a fantasy romance that takes place in the 1930s, with a projected budget of over 400 billion won. It will be directed by Jin Hyuk PD, who first developed his relationship with Lee Jong Suk in ‘Princess Prosecutor’ and ‘Doctor Stranger’. Zheng Shuang, who played the heroine in the Chinese version of ‘Boys Over Flowers’ will be the female lead of this drama. (T/N: Not fully confirmed yet.)

In the first half of next year, Lee Jong Suk will be filming ‘Jade Lover’ in China while deciding on a new representative agency.

Hello sis @fgnuva hmmm, I am secretly wishing for Shinhye to go to a bigger agency..... so she can get better CFs, more magazine photoshoots, projects.... but knowing her loyalty trait.... Sigh.

You may have a point sis @yummiejeu but not all bigger agencies are bad in treating their celebs either.... It is only my wish and why I feel that way... for some reasons.

I will give credit to Shinhye for where she is today. She worked hard, and she had dramas and movies to her credits all these years from Dream Factory to present. People in the industry know her well. S.A.L.T. Is not the only agency she signed in who she considers like family.

Lee Jong Suk will enter 2016 as a free agent, following the expiration of his exclusive contract with Wellmade Yedang.

On December 31, the Korean outlet Star News reported the latest development in representation for the 26-year-old Hallyu star.

Lee successfully transitioned from runway modeling to emerge as one of the top young leading men in K-Drama and film.

“After his contract with his current agency expires on December 31, Lee Jong Suk wants to take the time to carefully consider his next step,” said a representative for the actor, in a statement published by Newsis.

According to the report, Lee will focus on developing his acting and will concentrate on promoting in Korea. The article emphasized the amicable nature of his parting from Wellmade Yedang, stating that the agency will continue to support his future endeavors.

His final project under the management of Wellmade Yedang is the Korean-Chinese co-production, “Jade Lovers,” which will begin shooting in early 2016.

“Jade Lovers” is a highly-anticipated series that will reunite Lee with producer-director Jin Hyuk, whose prior credits include “City Hunter,” “Doctor Stranger” and “Master’s Sun.” “Jade Lovers” has been billed as the companion to the 2015 hit Chinese series, “Diamond Lover,” which starred Rain in one of his most lauded roles since he completed his mandatory military service.

In 2012, Lee Jong Suk experienced increased popularity through his portrayal of Go Nam Soon in the teen drama, “School 2013,” where he appeared opposite his real-life friend, Kim Woo Bin.

His role as Park Soo Ha, a teen who possessed superhuman powers in the legal series, “I Can Hear Your Voice,” further solidified his reach with drama viewers. So since Jongsuk’s situation is a little unusual, there has been multiple rumours about him coming out today already.

Rumour 1: Chinese company has offered him a 6 billion won deal to start his own personal company.

Refutation: Lee Jong Suk has rejected the investment deal and will form a one-man system with his temporary manager. He does not belong to any particular company until a confirmation is made.

Plus: His side released the stance that “If Lee Jong Suk makes any decision with regards to future activities and companies, the public will be notified directly.” (Translation: Please stop speculating lol.)

Rumour 2: Lee Jong Suk’s new manager used to work with Won Bin and he will be setting up a new company with the manager.

Refutation: The manager was Won Bin’s manager and also part of Management Soop, the company for Gong Hyo Jin, Gong Yoo and Jon Do Yeon… yet LJS’ side has clearly said that although he has a working relationship with the manager, it doesn’t point to any decision yet.
