I think for those of us that speak an Asian language will be a little easier to learn Korean....there are many similar words : )
I started learning Korean when I was in 9th grade *thanks to Super Junior....haha*
but that's the only time i got *serious* about it, as in I bought books and study by myself....
then bamm in 10th, 11th and 12th i just got so busy and i let it go......as in i'm not study it like i used to be anymore.....i will just listen to k-pop, or watch variety shows without subs, go karaoke (or in Korean, ??? - literally translation is 'music room') ^^

i wish i can go to classes, because classes have teacher and they gives out tests and quizzes......that way helps you to study....then i'm sure by now 4 years later i will almost fluent...i pick up languages fast...my Korean friends also said that I have perfect Seoul accent.....haha

13sunshine. how old are you? im curious. so you did some self study thats why you learned the language? :))

I'm a year older than you ^^ *based on your profile bday*
yes for my part it's all self study T_T which i don't like at all so my suggestion is if you have the opportunity to take classes, go for it.

guys....how about post song that we sing in korean on here? it's a great way to practicing reading too : )

like each week, we will choose out 1 song, then practice, record and post on here?

should we have a thread for this? sounds fun ^^

Thanks everyone!!!

As sunshine-girl.. I also self-study hangul. I'm able to read but I found it is really hard to move on and improve without guidance. Most of the time I'm stil clueless cause I don't have enough vocab and I'm confused with grammar >_<;

Song is great!! But let's start with a simple one, shall we? Say carrot song? or bear song? or san-tokki song?!
reason is, simple language and short song and they're cute songs!!!!

I <3 this thread!

A while back, I downloaded Pimsleur Korean Audio Books and tried to learn the language. But I
gave up soon since it was much harder than I thought. I'm not that good at learning langauges fast. I did study japanese for 6
months in school though. Today I only remember words like Arigatou :D

Anyway. You can get the audio books here if you are interested: www.pimsleurkorean.com/

And keep on fighting students! AJA AJA!

Oooo, that sounds good too.
Perhaps one part at a time because I think learning the whole song is a little overwhelming as of now.
We can start out slowly then once everyone gets the hang of it, then we can do a whole song.

But anything is fine.
Can't wait to start!!

missmelis! i sent you a pm.. i have a question about your copy of pimsleur korean.. i've been using it for a while now and im almost done.. it really helps a lot.. especially with conversation..my korean friend told me that the style used is a little formal (honorific) so it's actually very safe to use when trying to start a conversation with any korean..hehe..
