FT Island Lee Hongki Says Sorry to Fans on Twitter



The boys of FT Island have been receiving lots of love through promoting their new mini album “RETURN”. They have been getting on music programs each week to perform their title track “Hello Hello”, yet the charismatic vocal Lee Hongki seemed to make a little mistake on the Music Bank stage on the 3rd.

There was a part of the song supposed to go up to a high note; however, Hongki did not make it this time. You could even tell by the expression on his face that he wasn’t feeling well, and he did go to the hospital due to some throat problems he’s been suffering lately.

Feeling bad about disappointing fans, Hongki left a tweet to apologize to all the fans.

“Recording just finished, although I kept on thinking not to make mistakes anymore, still didn’t make it. I should really be taking care of my body more, must resist any temptation! Babies, I’m sorry about today. Aigoo, so embarrassed ㅠㅠ please forgive me, just today~~~”

With that cute tone saying “Aigoo~~” at the end, how could anyone not forgive him?!

F.T. Island celebrates their fourth anniversary with a surprise fan meet





On June 5th, F.T. Island held a surprise fan meet after their performance on SBS’s “Inkigayo“!

Immeditely after they finished recording for the show, the boys prepared an on-the-spot fan meet for those fans who came to support their comeback.

The boys debuted on June 7th, 2007, so this marks their fourth anniversary.
Consequently, five hundred Primadonnas gathered to congratulate the boys on another successful year.

With tears in their eyes, the boys said, “Thank you for supporting us for the past four years.
We spent a lot of time in Japan, so seeing our fans still waiting for us like this makes all of us feel like family.
Let’s be together for longer than we’ve been together now.”

Hongki personally gave his bracelet to a fan who had won one of the many games they played together.
The boys even bought drinks and passed them out to each of the fans there.

FTIsland celebrates 4th year since debut in Korea with fan meeting

Korean rock band FTIsland commemorated their four years in the local music scene with a surprise fan meeting over the weekend, according to their agency FNC Music.

FNC announced in a press release that FTIsland, who made their debut on June 7, 2007, held a meet-and-greet with 500 of their Primadonnas [official name of FTIsland's fan club] after their performance on SBS' televised music show "Inkigayo" on June 5.

"We want to thank all our fans for supporting us for four years," the members of FTIsland were quoted as saying. "Though we spent a long time in Japan, it feels like we are a family with the fans that have waited for us. Let's move on together."

Composed of members Lee Hong-gi, Song Seung-hyun, Choi Min-han, Lee Jea-jin and Choi Jong-hoon, FTIsland released their first album "Cheerful Sensibility" in 2007 and followed it up with several singles and studio albums including "Colorful Sensibility," "Cross and Change" and "beautiful journey."

They expanded their career into Japan in 2008 with single albums “Flower Rock” and “Brand-new days."

The boys are currently promoting title track "Hello Hello" from their third mini-album "RETURN" as well as preparing for their nationwide tour in Japan this summer which will begin in Nagoya on June 20 all the way to Osaka on July 2, Tokyo on July 6, Fukuoka on July 8 and end at Nippon’s Budokan on July 29.

FT Island Celebrates 4th Anniversary with a Surprise Fan Meeting






FT Island debuted on June 7th, 2007, and to celebrate their 4th anniversary, the boys held a surprise fan meeting right after the recording of SBS "Inkigayo" last week. This was a surprise they’ve prepared for their fans and more than 500 Primadonnas got to celebrate the special day with the members.

The members expressed their thankfulness to their fans, “We feel truly thankful to all your support for the past 4 years. We’ve been promoting our albums in Japan for a while, and to come back and see you guys waiting for us make us feel like a reunion with family! Hope we can always stay together, longer than ever!”

One lucky fan got the present from Lee Hongki. It was a bracelet he personally loves. What’s more, the members bought drinks for all the fans as a little gift!

FT Island has been gaining much popularity in Japan, their Japanese album “Five Treasure Island” sold over 37,000 copies in the first week, which was the first time in Oricon history for a foreign male artist's first-full-length release to top the weekly chart!

Congrats to the boys!

F.T. Island performs a jaw-dropping cover of Park Bom’s “You & I”

We know that the members of F.T. Island are quite talented, but sometimes they get overlooked for trendier idols. Recently, the boys guested on the radio program, “Kim Heechul’s Young Street“, and delivered an amazing cover that left listeners clamoring for more.

F.T. Island gave an acoustic twist to Park Bom’s popular hit, “You & I“, and astounded everyone in the room with their husky vocals and resonating talent.

F.T. Island to conclude “Hello Hello” promotions to prepare for Japanese tour


F.T. Island will be wrapping up their third mini-album promotions to prepare for their Japanese tour.

On June 15th, a representative of FNC Music spoke through Star News and revealed, “F.T. Island will be concluding their Korean promotions through next week’s ’Inkigayo‘. Starting on the 29th, they’ll be going on a one-month-long summer tour in Japan. The boys will be leaving on the 28th, the day after vocalist Hongki completes his recording for ‘Immortal Song 2‘.”

He continued, “The members have been practicing for their Japanese tour on days that they didn’t have any music programs scheduled. Although it’s undecided for now, we are considering an Asian tour after they complete their Japanese tour.”

Starting on the 29th, F.T. Island will be holding their “2011 F.T. Island Natsu Tour Messenger” concert, which concludes on July 29th.

F.T. Island performs three songs on “Younha’s Starry Night”!

On June 14th, F.T. Island guested on “Younha’s Starry Night” radio show, and they performed their title track, “Hello Hello”, as well as two other tracks from their recent “Return” album.

Unfortunately, leader Jong Hun was absent due to a movie filming, but the rest of the members rocked it out with their powerful vocals and playful mannerisms.

FTIsland Concludes Mini Album Promotions & Departs For Japan




5-Member band FTIsland is wrapping up their 3rd mini album promotions, to prepare for their upcoming Japan tour.

Their management company, FNC Music, revealed on the 15th that, “FTIsland is ending their mini album promotion on next week’s SBS Inkigayo. They will embark on their Japan tour which starts on the coming 29th, lasting for a month. They will leave for Japan on 28th after Hongki completes his recording for Immortal Song 2 on the previous day.”
“The members have been practising for their Japan tour on days without music shows. Though it’s unconfirmed, there are plans for an Asia tour after ending their Japan tour.”

FTIsland will depart for Japan on 28th for their first concert stop at Nagoya on 29th. The “2011 FTIsland Summer Tour Messenger” will also be held at Osaka, Tokyo and Fukuoka, with a finale concert at Tokyo Budoukan on 29th July.

Budoukan is one of the most notable concert venues in Japan. Top stars like Beyonce, Christina Aguilera and Hallyu stars like Dong Bang Shin Ki, Big Bang, Ryu Siwon as well as the late Park Yongha have once stood on this stage before.

On the other hand, FTIsland have been actively promoting their 3rd mini album “RETURN” with the title song “Hello Hello” since 24th May, after almost a year since their previous comeback.

FT Island: ‘We Were Spurred By CNBLUE While Holding Activities in Japan’

FT Island has ranked atop the Oricon chart with their mini album entitled “Return.”

FT Island, who recently released a mini album entitled “Return,” seemed to have revitalized their spiritual energy during their ten-month break. The group members seemed more serious and their every comment during the interview revealed their ambitions. Lee Hong Ki, who abandoned his usually mischievous character, said with a smile, “I tried to become a diligent singer who gives off energy freely on the stage and to become more careful off the stage.” FT Island has received impetus from their previous activities at the bottom of the Japanese music industry for the past three years. And the rapid ascension of another Korean band, the group CNBLUE (who belongs to the same agency as FT Island), also served to motivate them. The interview took place right after FT Island’s first album in Japan ranked atop the Oricon weekly chart. FT Island became the first foreign singing group in Japan to be ranked in first place on the Oricon chart since 1970 when the Oricon began publishing rankings, so the members were delighted by their record. They said, “There were many popular Japanese singers, and we were more pleased as we have tried our best and we could gain a good ranking. In particular, we were very proud of the fact that our members’ own songs were included in the album.”



FT Island’s impressive achievement could not be established within a day with good luck. They debuted in the Japanese indie music industry in 2008, and they have developed their abilities while releasing several albums. They made an agency contract with a large music distributing agency, Warner Music Japan, last year and they were able to achieve this feat only a year since their debut in the major music industry in Japan. Choi Min Hwan said, “We debuted in the Japanese indie music industry first to study music and improve ourselves. All the members participated in recording our album together for the first time, and we also played our own musical instruments when we released the second album in Korea.” Lee Hong Ki said, “Our music became more mature as we released our songs that were specially made in the J-POP style in Japan with various versions in Japanese, English, and Korean instead of simply releasing our hit songs in Korea. In addition, we learned many things by looking at Japanese bands whom we could meet when we participated in the Japanese rock festival entitled ‘Summer Sonic’ last year. When you look at us while comparing our performances before and after we went to Japan, you might be able to notice the changes.” During that time, the rise of junior band group CNBLUE reportedly worked as a positive influence on them. Lee Jae Jin and Lee Hong Ki said, “We feel jealous about CNBLUE because they have an image that we do not have. They are performing soft music with their elegant and stylish image. So we have to have competition with them. As they chase us with their music, we have to develop ourselves more not to let them close the gap between us. We are their seniors, so we want to become the best before them (laugh).”



As they become psychologically more mature, their album sounds brighter than before. Their title song “Hello Hello” is rock music with a fast tempo, and it sounds very dramatic as it adds acoustic sound and raps by Lee Jae Jin and Song Seung Hyun during the introduction of the song. Another song entitled “Sunshine Girls” has a strong sound, but it alters its atmosphere with the cute lyrics of the song. In addition, the song entitled “I Confess,” which was composed by Choi Jong Hoon, was sung by all five members together for the first time. Lee Jae Jin said, “We have felt pressure as we took a break for ten months in this rapidly changing Korean music industry. But we want to come closer to people by adding more popular aspects to our songs. We just want our fans to comfortably enjoy our songs.”



FT Island debuted in 2007, and they have released a total of around 150 songs both in Korea and Japan, including this album. But the group members all agreed, saying, “We are still learning.” They are saying that the MBC program “I Am Singer” has become their new stimulus these days. Lee Hong Ki said, “I feel really tense while I am watching ‘I Am Singer’ because I can feel how those senior singers become tense on the program. Their nervous appearances on the program were real. I was frightened when I imagined being a contestant, thinking, ‘What if I had to sing on that stage?’ I will also appear in KBS 2TV’s program ‘Immortal Materpiece 2,’ and have competitions with other idol group members, and now I am really nervous due to the competition.” After they hold activities in Korea for one month, they have to follow their next goals. During their concert tour all over Japan, they will perform on the “dream stage,” Budokan. The group members delivered their wishes, saying, “We will close our tour concert at the Budokan on July 29. The concert will be with 10,000 audience members, but the venue is a symbolic place for bands, so it will likely be that we have achieved our first goal. We would also like to perform at the Tokyo Dome later.” They admitted that their ultimate goal was gaining popularity as a successful band. Choi Min Hwan said, “We are different from other idol groups not because we can play musical instruments, but because we are still learning and doing our best to improve ourselves by practicing to present better performances to our fans. We want to be more acknowledged by people as a recognizable band.”

Lee Hong Ki To Join Immortal Song 2




It was recently reported that idol singers 2PM’s Junsu, F.T Island’s Hong Ki, and MBLAQ’s G.O will be standing on stage of KBS 2TV’s “Immortal Song 2″ as new contestants for the show.

The three new members will be replacing Super Junior’s Yesung, SHINee’s Jonghyun, and B2ST’s Yoseob who have announced their departures last week due to conflicting schedules.
After wrapping up recordings on June 13th, PD Kwon Jae Yong praised the talents of the three new singers, “Admittedly, I did worry a lot, but the three new members came very prepared. The tension was high, and the overall quality of the song arrangements and vocal talents increased.”

In particular, he referenced MBLAQ’s G.O., saying, “I knew G.O was good at singing, but I didn’t think he was this good. He was really brilliant. I think a lot of people will be surprised when it airs.”

Looks like three of uri ANJELLs will all have some time on the small screen soon, with Yong Hwa and Shin Hye in Heartstrings and now Hong Star in Immortal Song 2! It will be nice to see them all again, even if separately. Let’s wish Hong Star the best, that he may advance well in the show!
