FT Island Lee Hong Gi Apologizes for Lying about being BFFs with Yoon Shi Yoon
FT Island’s Lee Hong Gi made a national apology on television for lying.
On October 16, the singer appeared on
SBS’ Strong Heart and admitted that he is not friends with actor
Yoon Shi Yoon, best known as
Kim Tak Gu in KBS’ Baker King, Kim Tak Gu.
The reason why this is becoming an issue is because the two stars have appeared on a program that introduces celebrities and their best friends.
“There used to be a show called Introducing a Star’s Friend I usually bring out my most talented or best-looking friends,” explained Lee Hong Gi. “But after appearing three times, I ran out of friends to bring, so I ended up appearing with a close producer’s friend, who was Yoon Shi Yoon.”
“We were supposed to get close before the broadcast, but because we were so busy, we ended meeting for the first time on the morning of the filming,” added
Lee Hong Gi, admitting that they rushed to find out things about each other.
Due to their awkwardness, they weren’t able to show their charms and ended up eating alone, instead of with the other celebrities and their friends.
Lee Hong Gi and Yoon Shi Yoon drifted apart after the show and
Yoon Shi Yoon ended up becoming a big star with his drama.
The stars pretended to still be friends in interviews, but then fate caught up with them, when they met again at an award ceremony with
Yoon Shi Yoon as an awarder and
FT Island as a receiver.
“We weren’t able to greet each other as friends, but just awkwardly bowed our heads to each other.”
Lee Hong Gi then ended his story by apologizing once more for lying and then left a message to
Yoon Shi Yoon, hoping that they can actually become close friends in the future.
