Song Joong-ki celebrity of the year





Song Joong-ki, who has solidified his status as a rising silver screen star with the hit movie “Werewolf Boy,” was named by KBS as the male celebrity of the year.

The country’s biggest television network announced the top five competitors in the category through KBS 2TV’s “Sympathy Generation” on Saturday.

Kim Soo-hyun, a lead actor from rival network MBC’s hit drama “The Moon that Embraces the Sun,” competed with Song for the title, KBS said.

Since being released on Oct. 31, “Werewolf Boy” has already become one of the country’s most successful films, drawing in more than seven million viewers through yesterday, according to the Korean Film Council. That number also includes the tickets for an alternate ending version of the film, which was released on Dec. 6.

The 27-year-old dashing actor also starred in the 2012 KBS drama “Innocent Man,” in which he played medical school student Kang Ma-ru, who wants to take revenge on a television reporter and former girlfriend who left him to marry a rich CEO.

Song Joong Ki is Now a Respectable Army Private!

Actor Song Joong Ki, who enlisted at the end of August, has now finished his recruit training and has become a private.

On October 10, Song Joong Ki graduated from his recruit training from the Army 22nd Infantry Division Recruit Training Battalion.

Photos of his graduation were posted on an online community. In one photo, Song Joong Ki is proudly wearing his private badge over his left breast, and another photo shows him standing firmly at the front of ranks, representing his fellow privates.

Song Joong Ki enlisted through the 102nd draft at Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, and was then assigned to the 22nd Division Yulgok-Hanwool Recruit Training Battalion.

Actor Song Joong Ki is taking his first vacation from military duties since his enlistment last August.
According to a local publication, the actor has been on leave since January 10, but he plans to return the following week. The actor plans on spending his vacation with family, as well as greeting entertainment friends he wasn't able to meet during his service.

His management agency Blossom Entertainment gave a statement and said, "Song Joong Ki took his first vacation since he began his military duty. He went on leave on January 10 and will return on January 22. Because it's his first break, he doesn't have anything special planned aside from spending it quietly with family and close friends before he returns to his service."

Since his enlistment, Song Joong Ki has been gathering attention as an active soldier, even earning praise from higher official for being diligent about his service. Aside from an ice cream eating rumor that circulated around the web, the actor has been doing relatively well inside the army.

Song Joong Ki is scheduled to finish his duties on May 2015.

SJK then took KBS "Nice Guy" (2012) as his next kdrama with Moon Chae Won. He is and always be "Kang Ma Roo", it was ringing in my ears for months even after it finished, his character name. LOL
